My 5 classes have been skimmed down to 4.
And even then it's not going as well as I hoped it to.
Time is eating away the fun, and it's just going to get worse once we finish May.
This summer better be as good as I'm making myself believe.
You deserve more than what you have, so go for it. Don't ever settle.
Life is what you make it to be. It's not where you live, when you live, but how you live. Happiness is a mentality that only you can create for yourself, not your surroundings.
Love,
Rachel
It's been 7 months at Northwestern and I think I've managed to settle down to this. I think I may just enjoy staying here for 4 years for the first time of my life.
The other day I told Kathy that gift cards were "unearned revenue." I definitely feel that Northwestern tuition is TOTALLY WORTH IT.
I've come to college with all these things I've set out to do but have not yet started.
It's time to live life at college instead of the college life.
Dance with passion, sing at the top of your lungs, and drive until you only see the night lights flashing by.
But don't forget to wear a seatbelt.
Ughh..
I think I'm in a very good position in life.
Love spring.
Love the people around me.
Love everything.
The most I've laughed since I can remember. It was amazing how close everyone got and it felt like we've known each other for quite a while beforehand. Everyone had their own little thing and I could not get enough of Chris's laugh.
The actual work was fun. Painting, demolition, scraping walls, floors.
It's been a week since I've updated and I'm glad to say that I loved everyone on the trip. Definitely will see everyone again.
Although I've really enjoyed ASB, I'm glad to be back on campus, wear freshly washed clothes, and change without the fear of Colin walking in on me.
This spring quarter will be amazing. 5 classes, yes, not sure whether I should do P/NP yet for German but I'll figure that out after the first 'midterm' paper. Spring sets everyone in a good mood.
Summer will be fantastic this year. Publicis, working for the US Olympics team, hang out with high school friends. Oh, this summer will be, as Trinh says, Legendary.
I found out that Barney from How I Met Your Mother is also in the "Undercover Brother" movie OMG.
So once again I've managed to be an 'over-achiever' by taking 5 courses next quarter:
1. Comm 201, Research Methods in Communications: should be easy/fun since it's taught by Todd Murphy. Plus it's a pre-req for other courses I want to take.
2. Comm 205, Theory of Persuasion: this course name scares me but Gabriel C. is taking it with me, which will probably make it so much more fun.
3. Math 224, Integral Calculus: I don't like math very much. But when it comes down to it, calculus is pretty much fun compared to everything else.
4. Econ 260, Accounting and Business Finance: Sounds like lots of addition and subtraction. I don't see why the IMC certificate would require this course.
5. German 205, Focus Writing: Class is taught in German. Should push for improvement.
Onto other things, my last final is tomorrow..I've studied too much/kept up to pace with class so that I'm writing on vox. 15 more minutes until I call the Publicis office in Beijing.
ASB trip in 2 days! Bright side: meet new people, seeing Minnesota, and contributing. Bad part: 8 hour long car ride omg.
So here's my list of goals for spring quarter 2008 and other things going through my head right now:
1. Get at least 3/4 As (depending on whether I take German P/NP or ABC grading)
2. Start worrying about summer storage/cell phone cancellations/magazine subscription changes
3. Waste less time online
4. Spring is the season of new beginnings/LOVE
5.
6. See number 5.
University life has been pretty nice lately. Work isn't stressing me out as much as last quarter even with 5 classes this quarter.
The Hush Sound is awesome.
And once again, it starts to snow giant balls of fluff.
Whisper sweet nothings.
19 in a week.
When you are on an average salary and have cancer but still give your friend's daughter 1000 RMB.
That's really something.
Winter quarter at Northwestern has been AMAZING. My classes are great. Public speaking is really fun and I've made some friends in that class. My prof. for my writing course is extremely nice and helpful. Calculus is mostly fun and games with a lot of homework. Advertising and brand management is my 'fun' class.
I think I can conclude the fact that the education system here is pretty well organized..except for the fact that they don't teach you in school how to file taxes and assume you know everything already.
I wonder if universities in China are structured the same as their middle schools, putting up everyone's name and rank on a list on the door and seating them accordingly.
As you may have guessed, I had a lot of trouble seeing the blackboard.
I am working for the hottest Olympics team ever.
Team America.
Reading week at Northwestern is here and I am being DESTROYED by final prep.
Seminar Essay check, Statistics Review (so far) check.
Economics just took 'difficult' to a new level.
Just wait until after the finals....I AM GOING TO READ FUN BOOKS (1984, All the King's Men, The Catcher in the Rye, Freakonomics....Colbert?).
Of course, AFTER I quickly skim over the textbooks for my classes next quarter...
